I had shown a Pocatello doctor of Serbian origin a picture of a Kangal, and he remarked that back in the old country they had a large breed that was somewhat reminicent of the Kangal, known as "Sar Mountain Dog" (his translation), and I had no idea what he was talking about. Great background work......but I'm still looking at the Kangal, and need to find a reputable breeder.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 9.0[ Corporal ] |

But the name Macendoski moloss coincides with Skopjan history of being the direct descendants of the people and the name Macedonia, Macedonski moloss. It is selfishness, politics and theft in progress. [ Major ] Location: Thessaloniki in the real Makedonia \"SKOPJE VARDAR BANOVINA stop stealing Greek history\" An old coin ! Is written in Greek ! FCI standard N. 41/ 03.10.1980 CLASSIFICATION F.C.I. : Group 2 Pinscher and Schnauzer - Molossoid breeds - Swiss Mountain and Cattle Dogs. Section 2.2 Molossoid breeds, Mountain type. Without working trial. BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY : The Yugoslavian Dog Sharplanina has been bred since time immemorial in the south eastern mountain regions of Yugoslavia. The breed was named after the Sharplanina Mountain range where it is the most common. Today Sharplaninas are being bred all over the country. The breed is registered with the F.C.I. since 1939 under n° 41 under the designation “Illirski Ovcar” (Yllyrian Shepherd Dog). In 1957 the General Assembly of the F.C.I. accepted a motion proposed by the Yugoslavian Federation of Cynology to change the name of the breed to “Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog Sharplanina”. Trying to change the name to Macendonski Moloss is ridiculous political propaganda. | | how about this HISTORY The Sarplaninac (pronounced shar-pla-nee-natz) is an ancient livestock guarding breed from the mountain region of southeastern Yugoslavia, known in Roman times as Illyria. This breed was formerly named the Illyrian Shepherd Dog when first recognized by the FCI in 1939. The name was changed in 1957 to Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog Sharplanina, after the Sharplanina mountain range where the breed is most common. And where is the name being changed to Macedonski Moloss? ![]() Location: San Antonio, TX Gary Sicard Gary Sicard Fear not the harsh words of your enemies but beware the silence of your friends. - Gary Sicard |

Skopje call Sar dogs to molosser, Makedonski moloss. Them feel that them are direct descendants of ancient Macedonia and the same with their dogs! This is ridiculous political propaganda, nationalism and historical theft! Until 1947 Skopje was called for Vardarska Banovina and dogs for Illyrian Shepherd and from 1957 Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog Sharplanina. Today they are trying to change the names, to Macedonia, Makedonski Moloss and the same with Makedonski Karaman! Prior to the Turkish conquest of the area, all of the shepherd dogs of the Balkans were known under the somewhat romantic name of "Illyrian Mountain Dog", distinguishable as regional Molosser types, rather than actual breeds. However, these great dogs existed in the Balkans long before the Illyrian connection, so even that name is technically incorrect and would be more accurate if applied strictly to the Bosnian dogs and not to the
