I first became interested in the A.S.D.'s quite some time back, but began to have doubts after perusing a jillion or so pictures -- it seemed if I got one I could have no real confidence in what I might end up with. The Kangals have the size, conformation, and laid-back temperment I'm looking for. Thanks, guys!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 10.0[ Corporal ] |

| Guest | The dogs in the pics aren't ''kangals'', but a sad mess of bad Kangals X English Mastiffs. The so called ''Panther line'' is a pure Turkish-German invention, never existed a ììPanther line''. These dogs are Malaks, in other words, pure mongrels. The pure Kangals are shepherd dogs, in your opinion could these dogs run all the day up and down thorough hills, valleys and deserts at 45 C? It's ridiculous! A true Kangal is a strong but slim dog, without all that skin, without all that useless weight. Kangal is a working dog, these ones are good to sleep all the day, indeed!!! |

| Guest | And this one is a correct head and bones example, not too much strong, not too much light![]() I don't want to be the ''master'', but it would be necessary a little bit more infos about this amazing breeds, because in these last years some turkishes are completely ruining it, with no knowledge of their own breed. And it's very very sad. My dogs come dirtectly from Sivas, not from Istanbul or Ankara. Directly from the shepherds who live and work every day with their dogs. My female is 78 cm at shoulders and 55 kg of weight, but she's growing again. By the way, CIAO to everyone, i'm DAVIDE from Italy but i'm gone a lot of times in Anatolia to study this breed, in all his different strains like Akbashes, Karses and Yoruks, the same dogs but with different coats, colours and furs. |

| Guest | Besides, i want to tell this one more time. In Turkey there's only one Shepherd breed: The Anatolian shepherd. Every strain are identical in terms of morphology, temperament and purpoises. Akbashes (the white/cream ones,) are widespread in Western Turkey, Kangals (the fawn short coated ones and black masked) are widespread in central Turkey (expecially in Sivas), Karses (long coated with any colours) are widespread at the North-Eastern Turkey's board's, in the Armenian mountains, and Yoruks are a miscellaneus between all these strais. But they're ALL ANATOLIAN SHEPHERDS with identical dignity. My friend Guvener Isik, a Turkish expert who live in Texas, said that my young female is an exellent example of absolutely pure Kangal. Luckly in USA many breeders like Janice Frasche (CA) or the owner of the Lucky Hit Ranch (Texas) are very serious people who follow the teachements of the first breed expert, the great (and sadly died) Natalka Czertoryska, who dedicated her life to this amazing breed.
